WABASHA -- A funeral service for Joseph L. Kreye will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church-Lima, in rural Durand, Wis., with the Rev. Jeffrey Burrill officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Arkansaw, Wis.
Mr. Kreye, 72, of Durand, formerly of Wabasha, died Wednesday (Oct. 20, 2004) at Chippewa Valley Hospital in Durand.
He was a signalman for the Milwaukee Road railroad for 30 years before he retired. Mr. Kreye was born April 18, 1932, in Wabasha, and raised there.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret; two sons, Joseph T. (Dolores) of Madison, Wis., and Mark P. of Altoona, Wis.; two daughters, Marie E. Kreye of Augusta, Wis., and Joan (Scott) Hemmeke of Durand; two grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren; four brothers, Julius (Margaret) of Bloomington, Minn., Bernard (Marcene) of Zion, Ill., Lloyd of Mount Home, Ark., and Richard (Cornetta) of Wabasha; three sisters, Mary (Richard) Passe of Albany, Minn., Helen (Robert) Robelia of Pepin, and Lavina Dilger of Port Isabella, Texas. He was preceded in death by a son, three brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand. A prayer service is planned for 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
