HAYFIELD -- The funeral for Joseph Nordean "Joe" Bakke will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hayfield, with the Rev. Stephan Sandness officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield.
Mr. Bakke, 100, of Hayfield, a retired farmer, died Monday evening (Jan. 21, 2002) at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield.
He was born Oct. 24, 1902, in Hayfield and lived in the area all his life. On Oct. 21, 1930, he married Grace Devriendt in Miller, S.D. She died in 1990. Mr. Bakke farmed and later worked for Casey Nursery in Hayfield. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and enjoyed gardening and horses.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty (Sterling) Johnson of Hayfield and Avis (Nick) Hatten of Stacyville, Iowa; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two sisters, Mabelle Nordenson of Hayfield and Myrtle Barlett of Springfield, Ore. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, a great-grandson, a brother and six sisters.
Friends may call an hour before the service Thursday at the church.
