ROCHESTER -- A funeral Mass for Josephine D. Tanaka will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Pax Christi Catholic Church in Rochester, with the Rev. LaVern E. Trocinski officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter &; Paul's Cemetery in Elmira, N.Y.
Mrs. Tanaka, 83, of Rochester, died Monday (Sept. 29, 2003) at Saint Marys Hospital following a brief illness.
Josephine D. Olszowy was born March 23, 1920, in Elmira, N.Y., and grew up there. She was a longtime member of St. Mary's Church in Elmira. She worked at St. Mary's Church Rectory in Elmira until her retirement in 1994. She then lived in Bangor, Maine, until moving to Rochester in 1998.
Survivors include three daughters, Barbara M. Allen of Brewer, Maine, Nancy M. (Douglas) Cross of San Antonio, Texas, and Theresa M. (Lawrence) Hinman of Schenectady, N.Y.; two sons, John A. (Mary Ellen) of Rochester and Michael M. (Ellen) of Aurora, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Martha Ford of Naples, Fla.
Friends may call an hour before the service Friday at the church.
