Judith (Judy) Lindman — Rochester

PAID OBITUARY

A celebration of life for Judith (Judy) Ann Lindman (Peterson) will be at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 3rd at Christ United Methodist Church in Rochester, with Pastor Nancy Wheeler Handlon officiating.

Judy, 63, of Rochester died Sunday, February 25, 2007, at St. Marys Hospital following a brief but courageous battle with cancer. She was cremated on Sunday following her death.

Judy was born on September 25, 1943, in Minneapolis to Marvel (McLean) Peterson and Lloyd Peterson. She was the beloved younger sister of Patricia (Patty). She attended the University of Minnesota and received her bachelor’s degree in Art and English.

On April 30, 1966 she married Robert (Bob) Lindman. They moved to Rochester in 1968 and raised three children. Judy’s passion for children led to a lifelong career in the area of Early Childhood Education. In 1987 she received her Master’s Degree in Adult Education from the University of Minnesota. She continued taking additional graduate courses in the area of Early Childhood over the years.

Judy worked as a teacher and director of Rochester Play Center from 1972-1978. In 1977 she was hired by Child Care Resource & Referral and was their Resource & Education Coordinator, as well as a Referral and Education Director. In 1991 she was hired by RCTC as an Early Childhood Instructor where she taught until her death. Judy has served on many boards, led several trainings and conference sessions, all in the area of the Early Childhood Profession. She has influenced many child care providers, students, and colleagues with her knowledge, enthusiasm, wit and humor.

Judy enjoyed spending time with family and friends, reading, doing crossword puzzles, baking (rolls, pumpkin bread, and kringler) and planning outings with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband: Bob Lindman; Children: Jody (Bill) Peterson, Jed (Jackie) Lindman, Christian Lindman; Grands: Johanna and William Peterson, Zoe and Taylor Lindman; Sister: Patty (Gary) Sander. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Judy requested that memorials be directed to Crisis Nursery c/o Child Care Resource & Referral.
