Junior B champs 4-3

BYRON CENTER, Mich. — The St. Louis Junior Blues on Monday won their fourth consecutive Junior B national hockey championship.

The Junior Blues defeated the New Hampshire Monarchs 4-0 in the Silver Cup title game.

The Junior Blues lost in their second game of the national tournament but came back to win three straight, outscoring their final three opponents 21-2. Their only loss was a 6-2 setback to the Suffolk (N.Y.) PAL Silver Shields on Friday.

Bill McMillen scored two goals in the title game against the Monarchs. The Junior Blues scored all four goals in the first period, and goalie Ian Frenzel stopped 17 shots to earn the shutout.

The Minnesota Ice Hawks were eliminated from the national championships after three consecutive close losses. The game was tied at 3 in all three games after Ice Hawks’ rallies, but they came up short in all three.
