Cyclones sign as free agents

AMES, Iowa — Two former Iowa State players signed free agent contracts Monday after being passed over during last weekend’s NFL draft.

Defensive tackle Brent Curvey and center Scott Stephenson have signed with the Carolina Panthers and the Cleveland Browns, respectively.

Curvey finished his career with 222 tackles and 16 sacks. The Houston native earned first-team all-Big 12 honors in 2005. Stephenson started 24 career games during the 2005 and 2006 seasons. The St. Paul, Minn., native earned first-team all-Big 12 honors in 2005.
