Mickelson to skip BMW
Another week, another high-profile absence from the PGA Tour playoffs.
Phil Mickelson withdrew Tuesday from this week’s BMW Championship outside Chicago — one day after grabbing the FedEx Cup points lead and then backhanding tour officials for the compacted end-of-season schedule.
"This decision was not an easy one to make," Mickelson said via a statement. Mickelson isn’t the only eligible player sitting out this week. Fatigue also has claimed British Open champion Padraig Harrington, while Bernhard Langer has turned his attention to the Champions Tour.
