Jul. 21--Comedic actor Bill Murray is scheduled to perform a tandem jump with the U.S. Army Parachute Team Golden Knights at the 50th annual Chicago Air & Water Show next month.
The Chicago-area native will perform with the same team that has jumped with former President George H.W. Bush, said Mary May, a spokeswoman for the Mayor’s Office of Special Events. She said Murray, who is jumping on behalf of USO Illinois, an organization that provides support to wounded war veterans, will land at North Avenue Beach.
Murray’s jump, which will begin about 3 p.m. Aug 15, will be preceded by the singing of the national anthem by Florence Henderson, best known for her role as Carol Brady on TV’s "The Brady Bunch."
At 5 p.m., actor Gary Sinise, also from the Chicago area, will perform live with his band, the Lt. Dan Band, May said.
The evening’s festivities will conclude with a fireworks display at 8:45 p.m.
Headlining the Aug. 15-17 Air & Water Show with the Golden Knights will be the Blue Angels, the U.S. Navy’s flight demonstration squadron.
