MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota Lynx forward Katie Smith is a nominee for ESPN's WNBA Player of the Year.
The 10th Annual ESPY Awards will be aired live on the sports network next Wednesday evening.
Smith is nominated along with Los Angeles' Lisa Leslie, Houston's Tina Thompson and Utah's Natalie Williams.
Last season, Smith led the WNBA in scoring and set seven league single-season records, including most points (739), highest scoring average (23.1), free throws made (246), free throws attempted (275) and three pointers attempted (240). She also set a WNBA single-game record with 46 points at Los Angeles on July 8, 2001.
The winners will be chosen by a panel of Hall of Fame athletes, coaches and national media.
