BLOOMING PRAIRIE — The funeral for Kenneth A. Lea will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie, with the Revs. Richard Hegal and Heidi Heimgartner officiating. Interment will be in Red Oak Grove Cemetery, with American Legion Post 52 providing military rites.
Mr. Lea, 78, a longtime Blooming Prairie farmer, died Thursday (April 10, 2008) at Prairie Manor Care Center.
He was born May 20, 1929, in rural Blooming Prairie. He lived on the family farm his entire life, with the exception of the years he spent in the service. From 1951 to 1955, Mr. Lea was in the Air Force. He married Sharon K. Ramsey on Dec. 11, 1971, at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie, where they remained members. Mr. Lea also belonged to the American Legion. He loved being a farmer and John Deere farm equipment, and enjoyed woodworking and driving around looking at crops.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Kent (Kim) of Blooming Prairie; two grandchildren; and a sister, Shirley (Charles) Knutson of Blooming Prairie. He was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin "Mike," and an infant son, Kevin.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Worlein-Blooming Prairie Funeral Home, and an hour before the service Monday at the church.
