Kenneth G. ‘Ken’ Zimmerman

HAYFIELD — A memorial service for Kenneth G. "Ken" Zimmerman will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Kasson, with Rev. Chris Beckman officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Mr. Zimmerman, 86, of Hayfield, died Wednesday (April 2, 2008) at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield of natural causes.

Kenneth G. "Ken" Zimmerman was born July 1, 1921, in Rhinelander, Wis. He grew up and worked in the Minneapolis area. He graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn., and served in the U.S. Merchant Marines during World War II. On July 28, 1959, he married Patricia Callahan in Minneapolis. They lived in Anoka, Minn., for 40 years, moving to Hayfield in 2002. He worked for the city of Minneapolis for many years and later was a stockbroker for A.G. Edwards.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Herbert of Canyon City, Colo., and Gordon (fiancée Abby Olsson) of Polson, Mont; two daughters, Katherine (Kevin) Connelly of Rochester and Patricia (Rev. Chris) Beckman of Farmington, Minn.; five grandchildren; and one brother, Douglas of Plymouth, Minn. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Friends may call at the church the day of the service.

Memorials are preferred to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Kasson, or Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield.

Dibble Funeral Home of Kasson assisted the family with arrangements.
