Kodet becomes leading scorer in state history

He's done it.

Rochester Lourdes' Tyler Kodet became the state's all-time leading boys soccer scorer Saturday, coming up with four goals and an assist in a 6-0 win over Byron in the quarterfinals of the Section 1A tournament at Withers Field.

Kodet, a senior, now has 121 points over his career, topping the mark of Marshall Morehead of Stillwater, set in 1996. Morehead had 120 points.

Kodet broke that record, despite missing much of last season with sickness. The explosive forward now has 86 goals and 35 assists over his career. That includes 30 goals and 17 assists this season.

"It's an amazing accomplishment, to have scored 86 goals in the timespan that he did," Lourdes coach Tom Kane said. "You can only wonder what he might have done had been healthy his junior year."

Lourdes' second all-time leading scorer is Tim Macken, with 89 points.

The No. 1 seeded Eagles got their other goals from Nick Rieder and Brandon Bahnemann. Notching a pair of assists was Bayode Adafin.

Lourdes outshot the No. 8 seeded Bears 24-1. The Eagles take on No. 5 seed Austin at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

No. 2 seed La Crescent, a 7-0 winner over Kasson-Mantorville, plays No. 3 seed Caledonia in the other semifinal. Caledonia beat Winona Cotter 2-0.
