L/P girls get first dual meet win
NORTHWOOD, Iowa — The Lyle/Austin Pacelli girls golf team won is first dual meet of the season on Monday against Glenville-Emmons at the Northwood Country Club.
Over the course of the last few weeks, the Lyle/Pacelli girls have been steadily improving and that progress culminated with a Southeast Conference dual meet win.
The L/P Athletics won handily at 293-343 over the G-E Wolverines. This was a makeup meet from a rained out conference event originally scheduled for last week.
Emily Leif of Lyle/Pacelli was the meet medalist with a round of 62 in the nine-hole conference meet. Molly McGonigal of L/P was the runner-up on the day with a 73. Jenny Johnson shot an 82 and was the low round for G-E in the loss.

"It wasn’t our best team score, but pretty close and a nice win for the girls," L/P coach Mark Buntje said. "Emily shot a season low and Molly was only one stroke away from her best round. It was really windy and the conditions weren’t easy, but the girls adjusted as they continue to get better. It was good to get a win and the girls are happy about the way they played in this meet."
Lyle/Pacelli (1-3, 1-3 SEC) hosts a rematch this afternoon with Glenville-Emmons at River Oaks in Austin. This is a regular scheduled SEC dual for both the L/P boys and girls teams.
