LaVerne Palmer Everson -- Rochester

ROCHESTER -- The funeral for LaVerne Palmer Everson will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary in Austin, with the Rev. Randy Petersen officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery in Austin, with military rites by Olaf B. Damm Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1216, and American Legion Post 91, Austin.

Mr. Everson, 87, of Rochester, died Sunday (Oct. 17, 2004) at his daughter's home.

He was born Aug. 21, 1917, in Austin and graduated from Austin High School in 1935. On Feb. 18, 1939, he married Dorothy Edwards in Austin. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy. After his discharge from the Navy, he worked at Hormel Food Corp. in Austin. Mr. Everson was a life member of Olaf B. Damm Post No. 1216 Veterans of Foreign Wars, was active in AA, and was a longtime member of Moose Lodge 1180. He enjoyed golfing.

Survivors include three sons, Jon (Carol Jean) of Caldwell, Idaho, Terry (Sandra) of Dexter, Kevin W. of Hastings, Minn.; a daughter, Dayle (Thomas) Juntunen of Rochester; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sharon Fountain of Tullahoma, Tenn. His wife and two brothers preceded him in death.

Friends may call from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and an hour before the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
