BROWNSDALE -- The funeral for Lavonne Beverly Spurgeon will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Brownsdale United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Jim W. Purdham and Rick Ormsby officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Brownsdale.
Mrs. Spurgeon, 79, of Brownsdale, died Monday (Oct. 25, 2004) at Infinia in Owatonna.
Lavonne Beverly Bremseth was born July 9, 1925, in Grand Meadow and attended Fillmore County schools. On Dec. 16, 1945, she married Ivan J. Spurgeon at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin. She was a member of United Methodist Women. Her interests included gardening, quilting, and watching the Minnesota Vikings and Twins on TV.
Survivors include four sons, Allan (Carol) of Owatonna, Rodney (Julie) of Waseca, Minn., Sidney (Kate) of Warsaw, Minn., and Bruce (Deanne) of Spring Valley; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Kenneth, Richard and Jim; and eight sisters, Leila, Almeda, Freda, Martha, Delores (Pat), Luella, Eva (Clayton) and Ovedia (Everett). She was preceded in death by her husband, four brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary in Austin and an hour before the service Thursday at the church.
