The Austin Area Art Center in Oak Park Mall will be celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2009, and as part of the celebration, it invites area artists and supporters of the arts to become members.
Membership is available to people interested in giving to the arts through monetary or volunteer support and active participation. Benefits include exhibition space, educational components during monthly member meetings, member-only workshops and a monthly newsletter.
Youth memberships are available to students under age 20 for $20 a year. Primary level memberships are $35 a year, advocate level memberships are $75 and sponsor level memberships are $250.
Dec. 1 is the deadline to be listed in the anniversary edition of the membership directory, though memberships will be taken throughout the year and donations are always welcome.

The center has promoted the arts through exhibits on the courthouse lawn, management of the Mower County Fair Fine Arts Exhibits, a hobby show and wildlife shows, exhibits in the National Guard Armory, the development of the Art Cart at the hospital and its own gallery exhibits. The center also offers adult and children’s classes by area artists.
