p Central Junior High School, built in 1926, stood at 517 First St. S.W. until being closed in 1981 and subsequently torn down. The school was doubled in size in 1939. It served the district as a high school, junior high and elementary school. With 2,100 students, it was one of the largest junior high schools in the state. The students moved into the then-new Willow Creek Junior High when Central closed. The school site currently is a Mayo Clinic parking lot.
