Leo A. Schreader — Zumbro Falls

ZUMBRO FALLS — The funeral service for Leo A. Schreader will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Zumbro Community Church in rural Zumbro Falls, with the Rev. Dave Mohler officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Prairie Dale Cemetery, with military honors provided by Zumbro Falls VFW Post No. 1802. 

Mr. Schreader, 86, of Zumbro Falls, died Friday (May 18, 2007) at his home, surrounded by family. 

Leo Albert Schreader was born Aug. 2, 1920, in Mazeppa, where he was raised and worked on farms in the area. He served in the U.S. Army in General Patton’s 3rd Army from October 1942 to October 1945. On Oct. 8, 1942, he married Arlene Mae Adams in Rochester. The couple lived in Alaska from 1952 to 1956, then moved to Rochester. In 1982, the couple moved to their current home in Zumbro Falls. He worked in construction and was a sheep shearer for many farmers. He was a life member of the Zumbro Falls VFW Post No. 1802. He loved caring for animals and farming. 

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Jerry Schreader of Hammond, Ken (Anita) Schreader of Janesville, Robert (Bonnie) of Oronoco, Michael Schreader of Zumbro Falls; and a daughter, Pamela Schreader of Rochester; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Dwayne (Shirley) of Rochester. He was preceded in death by a brother.

Mahn Family Funeral Home-Mahler Chapel in Pine Island is in charge of arrangements.
