AUSTIN -- A memorial service for Leona LaVerna "Lee" Ashley will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin, with the Rev. Ron Barnett officiating. Private interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Austin.
Mrs. Ashley, 94, of Austin, died Sunday morning (Feb. 6, 2005) at Austin Medical Center.
Leona LaVerna Madison was born June 8, 1910, in Morris, Minn., and grew up in Farmington, where she graduated from high school. She married E. Lawrence Ashley on Aug. 2, 1931, in Rich Valley, Minn. They lived in Austin and operated Ashley Distributing Co. She was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and enjoyed golf, cribbage, bowling and needlepoint.
Survivors include a son, Larry (Deanna) of Austin; a daughter, Sharon (Sam) Brown of Hillsboro, Mo.; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and three sisters.
Friends may call from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin.
