LEROY — A house in LeRoy was destroyed by a fire Monday morning while the man who lives there was at work.
The fire, at 77870 State Line Road, was reported at 8:10 a.m. by a neighbor.
The 49-year-old man who owns the residence was at work in Spring Valley when he was notified of the fire by officials from Fillmore County.

The LeRoy Fire Department and the Chester Fire Department responded to the fire. It’s the third house fire in the LeRoy area since early March. None of the homes have been occupied at the time of the fires. Electrical problems were cited as the cause at one fire
The cause of the fire is unknown. However, Mower County Sheriff Terese Amazi said it appeared to have started in the center of the house.
The house was deemed a total loss.
