A 39-year-old LeRoy man died Tuesday after a skid loader he was working on slid onto him at his brother's rural Adams residence.
At about 2:15 p.m., Ricky Smith found his brother Gary Gerard Smith pinned underneath the machine, not breathing and without a pulse, Mower County Sheriff Terese Amazi said. Ricky Smith started CPR on his brother.
Paramedics from a Mayo Clinic helicopter arrived at the farm at 62499 110th St. and revived Smith, Amazi said. The helicopter then flew to Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester around 2:50 p.m., she said.
Smith died later that afternoon at the hospital, Amazi said.
Ricky Smith, 42, told police he last saw his brother about 1:30 p.m. in the shed where he was working on the skid loader, Amazi said. The machine had been placed on top of wooden blocks.
