Lester Laverne Ballard -- Lewiston

LEWISTON -- A memorial service for Lester Laverne Ballard will be 4 p.m. Friday in St. John's Lutheran School Auditorium in Lewiston, with the Rev. Larry Ballard officiating.

Mr. Ballard, 70, formerly of Lewiston and Winona, died Thursday (Aug. 8, 2002) in Scottsdale, Ariz., following a heart attack.

He was born July 28, 1932, in Danube, Minn. On Dec. 19, 1951, he married Eloise Redman. They were later divorced. He married Shirley Glende May 5, 1979. She survives. Mr. Ballard worked for Interstate Power for 42 years and retired in 1991. During retirement, he traveled the Midwest, guiding family and friends in pheasant hunting. He had been involved in Lewiston Businessmen's Club, Lions Club, was a scoutmaster, and coached basketball at St. John's School and Lewiston Sportsmen's Club.

Survivors include his wife of Winona; three sons, Greg of Scottsdale, Brad (Sherri) of Winona and Gary (Angela) of Pilot Point, Texas; a daughter, Sheri (Robert) Lundstrom of Plymouth, Minn.; eight grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; a brother, Edwin of Hutchinson, Minn.; and a sister, Alice Myers of Florida.

Hoff Funeral Homes-Lewiston Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
