LET Attack would serve no purpose

With great relief I read your editorial calling the U.S. plan to attack Iraq reckless and misguided.

It seems clear to me that such action would incite terrorists to greater action, create division at home, cause the death of many innocent Iraqis, and alienate us from the world community. I truly don't understand what good purpose it would serve. We can never eliminate people who think and act differently from us -- we need to find ways to live with them, and to listen to and work with people who have a similar dedication to democratic principals and ideals.

The fact that we are the richest and most powerful nation on the earth gives us a great position from which to help create stability and peace in the world. I hope we do not use that power to become the biggest bully.
