LET Kerry will restore U.S. credibility

On the recent Republican campaign stop at the Rochester fairgrounds, I was discouraged by the tactics used by local legislators Bradley, Gutknecht, and Coleman to whip up sentiment against the presidential challenger and indiscriminate adoration of the incumbent president.

I was even more discouraged to witness two-thirds of Cheney's speech devoted to an Iraq war pep talk and to Kerry-bashing. I came away wondering why we Minnesotans would want four more years of the "Bush-Cheney rule" that the crowd was instructed to chant.

Cheney's recitation of Bush's track record in Iraq brought to mind the image of a playground bully. Have any of you ever known a playground bully or been one? If so, you know that you always have to watch out for an even bigger bully coming up behind you.

We are the bully in Iraq. Is this really how we want to act in the world community? How about throwing in a dose of humility, honesty, and reality to take an effective approach to the war on terror?

John Kerry will work toward restoring our world credibility and international friendships while always focusing on keeping the United States safe. Will you consider joining me in voting for a change in president on Nov. 2?
