LET Program benefits school families

Sept. 3 is an exciting day for students across Rochester as they start a new school year.

It's exciting for many reasons, but it's the first time they get to use those brand new school supplies.

Our community is dedicated to seeing that the children have what they need to get a "running start" every year for school. Many families, however, find it a financial burden to purchase school supplies for their children.

Community Education, United Way, and Child Care Resource and Referral sponsor the back-to-school program known as Running Start for School. Running Start provides identified families the necessary school supplies so their children begin the new school year with the appropriate materials.

Running Start is successful because concerned citizens are willing to contribute backpacks, crayons, No. 2 pencils, children's scissors, glue, folders, wide-line notebook paper and wide-line spiral notebooks.

If you are willing and able to help, please drop any of the above-mentioned supplies at Hunt Drug, Wal-Mart Super Center South, Northrop Community Center or United Way. If you prefer to make a cash donation please make your contribution to Running Start for School and mail to Community Education, 208 Eighth St. N.W., Rochester, MN 55901.
