LET Remember child-care providers

In 1988, Gov. Rudy Perpich signed the first proclamation observing one week in October as the Week of the Family Child Care Provider. This year, Gov. Jesse Ventura has proclaimed October 8-14 as the 12th annual Week of the Family Child Care Provider.

There are more than 160,000 infant-to-school-age children who are cared for in Minnesota Family Child Care Homes. In Olmsted County alone, there are almost 500 licensed family child care providers.

Family Child Care Inc. would like to honor the providers who welcome approximately 5,000 children from our community into their homes and their hearts every day. We salute your dedication for the care that you provide to America's future, the children.

There will be a statewide conference and banquet in Willmar on October 14, sponsored by the Minnesota Licensed Family Child Care Association. Lori Ann Hameister will be representing Olmsted County as Professional Provider of the Year. Hameister has provided care at Little Bit of Country Daycare in rural Eyota since 1992.

Please join FCCI in acknowledging in-home child care providers during the Week of the Family Child Care Provider.
