LET See and hear what is happening

I recently attended an "Informance", led by Sue Corrigan featuring the 4th–grade; classes at Sunset Terrace School and the sixth–grade; band concert, led by Rita Bowe, at John Adams Middle School.

In the "Informance," about 100 students demonstrated multi-music skills; singing, music concepts, rhythm and movement all combined. The sixth–grade; band of 116 students filled the John Adams stage almost to overflowing.

I am a professional musician and voice teacher. To say I was impressed with what I heard and saw is a huge understatement. Many thanks to these, and all the dedicated music teachers in ISD 535, many of whom teach in two to three schools, often in one day. Ms. Corrigan said she'd be doing 14 of these programs this spring.

I encourage Rochester citizens to visit their neighborhood school to see and hear what is happening.
