I am writing regarding the recent articles concerning blacktopping streets within the city of Oronoco. There has been no council vote on a referendum or on budgeting $450,000 over the next 10 years to pay for blacktopping streets. As of yet, the city has yet to receive an engineer's report or a legal bid on blacktop. Culverts were approved because of water runoff issues and not a precursor to the roadwork.
To get the facts, check the city's Web site at oronoco.com and click on "Local Government" to view the latest council minutes. If you don't have access to the Internet, contact the city clerk for a copy of the minutes. Get the facts by going directly to the source, and don't rely on others to get the facts to you because they might not be accurate.
