First I received a political call a few months ago, disguised as a "survey." I later found out it's called a "push poll" and was being conducted by non-Rochesterites to influence voters against Carla Nelson. Then today I received what apparently is the result -- a brochure not worth the paper it's printed on distorting this fine representative's viewpoints and votes.
I could decide to disagree with all the work she did to get the U of M/Mayo partnership here to Rochester. I could choose to dislike how she pressed to get Rochester designated as a job site so hundreds of new jobs could be brought here. I could even somehow not be impressed by the more than 100 bills she authored or co-authored in the House in order to improve all facets of our lives in Rochester.
But I could never mistake Ms. Nelson's integrity, her patience, her ability to hear all points of view, and her emphasis on running on her positions, not relying on how she can distort her opponent's views. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the "outsiders with no connection to her opponent's campaign" who are trying to influence my vote.
I'll take integrity over any other attribute any time of the day. I'm voting for Rep. Carla Nelson.
