Lewiston woman charged with drug offense

WINONA -- A Lewiston woman was charged Tuesday in Winona District Court with possessing and intending to sell cocaine.

Suzanne Marie Maul, 43, was charged with first-degree controlled substance crime (possession with intent to sell) and second-degree controlled substance crime, according to court records.

The complaint alleges Lewiston firefighters went to her apartment July 29 because of a call, but those inside were slow to answer the door. They also told law enforcement officials they smelled something odd, as if methamphetamine were being made there. The landlord also told officials about strange odors and excessive air freshener smells coming from the apartment.

Officials received a search warrant, and when Lewiston police and members of the Southeast Minnesota Drug Task Force went to the apartment, they reportedly found cocaine stored in two places.
