Lillian Braness -- Austin

AUSTIN -- The funeral for Lillian Braness will be 11 a.m. Aug. 24 in Westby Chapel of St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin.

Mrs. Braness, 84, of Austin, a retired Dayton's employee, died Sunday (Aug. 11, 2002) at Comforcare Good Samaritan Center in Austin.

Lillian Dorothy Magnuson was born Oct. 5, 1917, in Minneapolis and attended grade school and middle school in Devils Lake, N.D. After graduating from Webster, N.D., High School in 1934, she moved to Minneapolis and worked in a number of positions at the downtown Dayton's store. She was manager of the customer service department when she retired in 1987. In 1938, she married Leonard Braness, a barber. He died Oct. 2, 1963. She was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin and a former member of Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, where she worked for many years at the main reception desk on Sunday mornings. Since moving to Austin in May 1997, she had lived at The Cedars, Catherwood and the Colony before entering Comforcare Good Samaritan Center.

Survivors include nieces and cousins. A sister and brother preceded her in death.

Worlein Funeral Home in Austin is in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation or reviewal.
