Grant Blackwood's third book, "An Echo of War," will be in bookstores Tuesday.
This time, Agent Briggs Tanner must follow a trail through the Alps to rescue the kidnapped wife of another agent and uncover a World War I biological weapon secret before it falls into the wrong hands and millions of lives are lost.
Blackwood lives in Rochester and spent part of his life in Austin.
His first two books in the series were "The End of Enemies" and "Wall of Night." He's working on his fourth in the series, due out next summer. Penguin-Putnam is the publisher of each.
"As a writer, I know I'm supposed to avoid clichés,; but after working at this for 16 years it's a dream come true," Blackwood said. "I'm doing what I love for a living, and I wake up grateful every day. It's how I genuinely feel."
