After serving as the Rochesterfest executive director for the past four festivals, Brent Ackerman has announced he will be stepping down from the position to accept the role of marketing and sales director for the Rochester Civic Theatre Company.

He begins his new position Sept. 3.

Prior to replacing longtime Rochesterfest Director Carole Brown in February 2016, Ackerman served for many years as a Rochesterfest volunteer, event chairman and board member. He plans to remain with the festival in a similar capacity.

“It’s been an honor to have worked with so many outstanding volunteers and community partners who have been such a big part of Rochesterfest’s success these past four years,” Ackerman said.

Ackerman, who is also known as a longtime local radio program/operations manager and on-air talent, said he looks forward to the new position

“I’m excited for the opportunity to work alongside Kevin Miller, Sinead Chick and the entire team and to let our community know about all the great shows, activities and opportunities taking place at The Civic,” he said.

Civic Theatre Executive Director Kevin Miller said he looks forward to the skills, knowledge and passion Ackerman will bring to the organization.

“He has done our community a great service with his outstanding work on Rochesterfest, and all at The Civic are honored and thrilled that Brent will be part of our team," he said. "I am also grateful to the board of Rochesterfest for their support of Brent in his new journey with The Civic.”
