Concord Cemetery

A flowered wreath is placed at a military memorial during a 2016 Memorial Day program at Concord Cemetery in West Concord.


The procession/parade will go down 4th Avenue Northwest this year. The Rochester Memorial Day Program will begin at 9:15 a.m. Monday, with music from the Plummer Carillon.

At 9:45 a.m., there will be a procession from the American Legion/Central Park area to Soldiers Field Veterans Memorial. The Memorial Day Program at Soldiers Field Veteran Memorial will begin at 10:30 a.m.

Following the program, veteran organizations will honor those buried at sea with a ceremony at the Center Street Bridge at noon. Services will take place afterward at the local cemeteries below.

The Marine Corps League Thor Detachment 606 will be at the following locations: Oakwood Cemetery at 12:15 p.m., Fisherman’s Inn at 1:30 p.m., Pleasant Prairie at 2:30 p.m. and Oakwood #2 at 3:30 p.m.

The American Legion Post 92 will be at the following locations: Grandview at 12:15 p.m., Marion at 1:30 p.m., Fairview at 2:15 p.m. and St. Bridget at 2:45 p.m.

The VFW Post 1215 will be at the following locations: Calvary at 12:30 p.m., Farm Hill at 1:15 p.m. and Quarry Hill Park West at 2:15 p.m.


Multiple Cemetery Services will be held in the Byron Area on Monday.

8 a.m., Othello Cemetery; 8:30 a.m., Douglas Cemetery; 9 a.m., Mount Hope Cemetery; 9:30 a.m., Byron High School Band lines up for parade; 9:45 a.m., parade into Byron Cemetery; 10 a.m, Byron Cemetery.

Blooming Prairie

11 a.m. on Monday at Blooming Prairie City Cemetery following a parade from the Prairie Plumbing and Heating parking lot to the cemetery. Coffee and donuts will be served at the BP Servicemen’s Club at 9:30 a.m. with a parade to follow.


Canton American Legion Post 400 will hold a Memorial Day program at Canton Town Hall on Monday at 9 a.m. Speaker will be Richard Bjertness.


The Chatfield American Legion Post 197 will hold its Memorial Day program at Potter Auditorium on Monday at 10 a.m. A parade will assemble at 9:30 a.m. at Main and 1st Street, with a March to Potter Auditorium taking place at 9:40 a.m.

A recess to Veterans Memorial in City Park will follow the program. After the ceremony in the park, there will be a “Lost at Sea” Ceremony on the County Road 2 bridge by the Root River.

Dodge Center

Dodge Center will hold multiple programs throughout the morning on Monday.

9:30 a.m., program at Riverside Cemetery; 10:15 a.m., Dodge Center Memorial; 10:30 a.m., the bridge at Wasioja over the Zumbro River; Noon, Ashland Cemetery.


The Memorial Day program will be at the Elgin Cemetery on Monday, May 28 at 10 a.m.


The Fountain American Legion Post 492 will hold several programs throughout the morning, beginning with a legionnaires meeting at the Fountain Community Hall at 7:30 a.m.

8:15 a.m., Winslow Cemetery; 8:30 a.m., Fountain Lutheran Cemetery; 8:45 a.m., Fountain Catholic Cemetery; 9 a.m., Root Prairie Cemetery; 9:15 a.m., Wykoff St. John’s Cemetery; 9:45 a.m., Watson Creek Cemetery.

The Houston American Legion Post 423 will hold a Memorial Day program at 10 a.m. in Houston City Park. A Boy Scout Breakfast will be held at the Houston Community Center beforehand form 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. The breakfast is free to all veterans, and freewill donation for others.


Kasson will hold a Memorial Day program starting at 11 a.m. Monday at Veterans Memorial Park in Kasson. There will also be cemetery services throughout the morning.

Lake City

Lake City will hold a program at Lincoln High School Monday.Lanesboro

The Lanesboro American Legion Post 40 will hold its Memorial Day Program at 10 a.m. Monday at the Lanesboro War Memorial Community Center. A parade from the school to the War Memorial Community Center will begin at 9:45 a.m.


The Mabel VFW Post 5769 and Mabel American Legion Post 299 will hold several graveside rituals throughout the morning, with a Memorial Day program to be held at 11:30 a.m. at Steam Engine Grounds.

7 a.m., meet at Mabel Legion; 7:30 a.m., Highland Lutheran graveside rituals; 8:30 a.m., Hesper Lutheran graveside rituals; 9 a.m., Hesper Public graveside rituals; 9:45 a.m., Burr Oak Cemetery graveside rituals; 10:15 a.m. Henrytown Cemetery graveside rituals; 10:45 a.m. Prosper Cemetery graveside rituals; 11:15 a.m., meet at Mabel Legion; 11:20 a.m., march to Steam Engine Grounds; 11:30 a.m., program at Steam Engine Grounds.

The Millville American Legion will hold multiple Memorial Day services at different locations throughout the morning of Monday, May 28. The schedule is as follows:

7:45 a.m., St. Patrick’s Cemetery, West Albany; 9 a.m., Millville Cemetery; 9:30 a.m., Old Swedish Cemetery; 9:45 a.m., Millville Bridge; 10:15 a.m., Hilltop Cemetery; 10:30 a.m., Bremen Cemetery; 10:45 a.m., Potsdam Cemetery.


The Ostrander American Legion Post 544 will hold a Memorial Day program in multiple locations on Monday, with the main service taking place at Cherry Grove Cemetery at 11 a.m.

9:30 a.m., Bennington Cemetery; 9:45 a.m., Ostrander Cemetery; 10 a.m., Bloomfield Cemetery; 10:30 a.m., Etna Cemetery; 11 a.m., main service.


The Peterson American Legion Post #526 will hold its Memorial Day Program at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 28 at Rushford-Peterson Middle School. Lunch by the Peterson American Legion will follow in the park.


The Preston American Legion Post 166 and Preston VFW Post 6893 will hold a Memorial Day program at 9:30 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Preston. The Color Guard will then travel to Greenleafton for a service at 11:30 a.m.

The Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery will also be holding a memorial service on Sunday at 2 p.m.

All VFW/American Legion and Auxiliary members are invited to join the Color Guard for the ceremony. Any active or reserve servicemen and women are also invited to march. A potluck at the Servicemen’s Club will follow the services.

Pine Island/Oronoco

Oronoco VFW Post 9647 and Pine Island American Legion Post 184 will combine to hold ceremonies in their communities. Multiple services will be held throughout the morning of Monday.

8 a.m., Oronoco bridge; 8:30 a.m., Oronoco Cemetery; 9:15 a.m., Church of St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery, Pine Island; 10:15 a.m., Pine Island parade; 11 a.m., Pine Island Cemetery.


Plainview will hold a Memorial Day program at Greenwood Cemetery at 11 a.m. The parade will step off from the Plainview American Legion at 10:30 a.m. The American Legion Post and Auxiliary will serve BBQ chicken at the Legion Hall at 11:45 a.m.

There will also be Memorial Day tributes held at Plainview area cemeteries throughout the morning.

7:45 a.m., St. Joachim Catholic Cemetery; 8 a.m., Pleasant Valley Cemetery; 8:15 a.m., Little Valley Cemetery; 8:30 a.m., Woodland Cemetery; 8:45 a.m., Beaver Cemetery; 9 a.m., Zion Lutheran Cemetery.


The Rushford VFW Post 5905 and Rushford American Legion Post 94 will hold a Memorial Day program at 10:30 a.m. at New Veterans’ Memorial Park by the Creek. A breakfast at the Rushford American Legion will take place at 7 a.m., and a lunch featuring brats, burgers and chicken will take place at 11:30 a.m. at the Rushford Legion Hall. The breakfast is free to veterans. All are welcome.

Spring Valley

The Spring Valley VFW Post 4114 and Spring Valley American Legion Post 68 will hold a Memorial Day program at four locations on Monday.

At 9:45 a.m., the program will start at the Fillmore County Veterans Memorial. The program will move to the Spring Valley Community Center, before heading out to the Spring Valley Bridge for a tribute to those Lost at Sea. The program will end at the Spring Valley Cemetery. A pork chop dinner sponsored by the American Legion will follow the program.


A Memorial Day ceremony will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery on Monday. The ceremonies will begin with a parade scheduled to begin at Griffin-Gray Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Following the service at Woodlawn Cemetery, short ceremonies will take place at St. Bernard’s Catholic Cemetery, Pleasant Grove Cemetery and High Forest Cemetery.

A brief ceremony will also be held at the High Forest bridge, where a wreath will be dropped into the Root River to honor those lost at sea.


Wabasha American Legion Post 50 and Wabasha VFW Post 4086 will combine to hold multiple services on Monday morning, with the main program at Schmidt’s Park in Wabasha at 10 a.m.

Other services that morning will be 9 a.m. at Theilman Cemetery, 9 a.m. at Riverview Cemetery and 9:15 a.m. at St. Felix Cemetery.

The Memorial Day parade will form at 9:30 a.m. on Second Street between Pembroke and Alleghany Avenues.


Ceremonies will begin at 8 a.m. Monday. There will be a short ceremony and prayer at the Wanamingo POW/MIA Memorial. Parade assembly will be at 8:30 a.m, and will begin at 9 a.m. The parade will go down Main Street to the Zumbro River Bridge, where a brief ceremony will be held for those lost at sea. The program will take place at Riverside Park.

The Girl Scouts will have a pancake feed at the Wanamingo Community Center prior to the parade.


Wasioja will have have a Memorial Day program at Wasioja Seminary Monday at 11:15 a.m.

West Concord

Multiple programs throughout the morning Monday.

9 a.m., program at Hegre Cemetery; 9:15 a.m., program at St. Vincent De Paul Cemetery; 10 a.m., program at Centennial Park (Hwy. 56 and Main St.); 10:30 a.m., main program at Concord Cemetery.


The Whalan American Legion Post 637 will hold a program at Whalan Town Hall on Sunday at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be served following the program.


The Wykoff American Legion Post 369 will hold a program at the Fillmore Cemetery on Monday at 10:30 a.m.


Zumbrota American Legion Post 183, VFW Post 5727 and Auxiliary to Post 5727 have a program at the Zumbrota Cemetery on Monday at 10 a.m. Assembly on Mill Street between 4th and 5th Streets will begin at 9:15 a.m.

Presentation of Colors will be at 9:35 a.m., and a parade will begin at 9:45 a.m. A bus ride to the cemetery will be at 9:55 a.m.
