It's the season for Disabled American Veterans hunts in two of Olmsted County's parks.
The annual DAV archery deer hunt in Oxbow Park is underway and continues through Dec. 1. The park remains open during the hunt, so users are encouraged to use extra caution when walking on trails.
Chester Woods Park will be closed when its deer hunts start next week.
The Disabled American Veterans Hunt will be Nov. 14 to Nov. 17, and the annual management hunt is set to start Nov. 23 and extend to Dec. 1.
The purpose for the annual hunts is to harvest a sufficient number of deer to keep the parks' herds healthy and manageable, according to a county parks notice.
Questions regarding the hunts are being referred to the Olmsted County Public Works Department at (507) 328-7070 or the Chester Woods Park Office at (507) 328-7350.
