PRESTON — Fillmore County voters in District 3 have selected two candidates to face off against one another in an August general election for a vacant county board seat.

Larry Hindt and Kevin Beck will be on an Aug. 13 ballot to fill the seat that was vacated last January.

Hindt, 93 votes, and Kevin Beck, 92 votes, ran neck-in-neck while Jordan Fontenello came in third in Tuesday’s primary with 27 votes.

Heidi Jones, the Fillmore County Auditor/Treasurer said the results are unofficial at this point, but canvassing will take place Thursday to certify the results.

Hindt and Beck are vying to fill the District 3 seat on the county board of commissioners that opened when Gary Peterson resigned Jan. 17.

Peterson was elected in 2016, and the winner of the Aug. 13 general election will fill the remainder of his term that runs through the end of December 2020.
