The cemetery received 91 out of 93 possible points for quality performance in categories such as interment operations, grounds maintenance, headstone, marker, niche cover and equipment maintenance.

“We are very proud of these compliance review results and our cemetery team that works so hard to make the MNSVC — Preston a national shrine,” said David Swantek, senior administrator of memorial affairs after the review. “This is confirmation that this is one of the finest Veterans Cemeteries in the nation.”

The Preston Cemetery is the second State Veterans Cemetery and had it's official dedication ceremony in 2016. The first veterans were laid to rest in Preston's cemetery on Veterans Day 2015.
