ALBERT LEA — The nation's ongoing battle with the flu has reportedly resulted in Mayo Clinic's hospital beds across the region being filled with ill patients.
A lengthy press release issued Wednesday by Freeborn County Administrator Tom Jensen noted that "Mayo commented that flu cases have filled all of its hospital beds and all beds in this region." That news came as part of a broader update on the facilitated dialogue between Albert Lea, Freeborn County and Mayo Clinic with retired Minnesota judge David Minge.
Mayo officials did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Jensen's report.
The Minnesota Department of Health is expected to release its latest flu numbers this afternoon. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that number of flu hospitalizations has spiked across the country in recent weeks.
