RUSHFORD — The story of an American B-24 bomber shot down over northern Italy in 1943 will be told at the Rushford Area Historical Society meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at Rushford-Peterson High School.

The speaker is Doug Tomas, of East Troy, Wis. He has been researching the experience of his great-great-uncle, who was a flight engineer on the bomber known as “Ready, Willing and Able.” The plane was shot down in December 1943.

Tomas corresponded with crew members and made a trip to Italy for a special dedication in December 2011.

Refreshments will be served. A freewill donation is encouraged. The school is at 1000 Pine Meadows Lane in Rushford.
