The threat of severe weather has caused the cancelation of Thursdays Downtown today.

"After speaking with the US National Weather Service in La Crosse, Wis., and  consulting with the City of Rochester Police Department this morning, the Rochester Downtown Alliance made the decision to cancel Thursdays Downtown for June 27," the RDA announced. "The threat of severe weather is expected to remain high throughout the day."

Powerful thunderstorms are forecast for the area this afternoon and evening.

Last week's Thursdays Downtown was closed down shortly after noon due to steady rain.

Because next Thursday is July 4, Thursdays Downtown will not be held again until July 11.
