EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Vikings; quarterback Daunte Culpepper was resting in a Birmingham, Ala., hospital Wednesday, one day after undergoing surgery to repair three torn ligaments in his right knee.
Vikings trainer Chuck Barta said Culpepper likely would remain in the hospital for a day or two and then begin his rehabilitation program in Alabama.
Barta reiterated the team's position that Culpepper is expected to be ready to participate in the Vikings' training camp next summer, but he admitted a nine-month timetable is a best-case scenario.
Barta said Culpepper's condition would be re-evaluated often during the rehabilitation.
