Rochester John Marshall graduate and Oklahoma University senior Longar Longar has been selected to play in the elite Portsmouth Invitational Tournament next week in Portsmouth, Va.
Winona State standout Jonte Flowers also has been selected. The 6-foot-6 guard, who averaged 17.9 ppg, anchored Winona State’s Division II national champion this season and was selected MVP of the tournament.
The annual tournament features 64 of the best 100 college seniors in the nation; 63 are chosen from Division I programs, and one from Division II (Flowers this year).
Most of the players chosen for the tournament are expected to be chosen in the first or second round of the NBA draft. NBA general managers flock to the tournament.

Longar Longar is the first graduate of a Rochester high school to play in the tournament, said Jerry Raddatz, who scouts for professional sports teams. At Oklahoma this season, the 6-foot-11 center averaged 11.6 ppg, making 48.8 percent of his shots, and 5.6 rpg.
The 64 players in the tournament are placed on eight teams and play in at least two games. Winning teams advance to a tournament in Orlando, Fla.
