KENYON -- A memorial service for Luverne Harold "Lefty" Meyer will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenyon, with the Rev. Lyndy West officiating.
Mr. Meyer, 80, of Kenyon, a retired IBM employee, died Tuesday (Sept. 2, 2003) at Kenyon Sunset Home.
He was born Dec. 31, 1922, in Faribault and attended St. John's United Church of Christ in rural Faribault. On Feb. 26, 1949, he married Lorraine "Toots" Carlsen of Kenyon. Mr. Meyer owned a milk route and later worked for Milo Peterson Ford and then for IBM in Rochester until his retirement.
During retirement, he worked at the Kenyon Country Club. He was a longtime member of the Kenyon Fire Department. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and playing cards.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Dave "Red" (Cindy) of Kenyon; a daughter, Robyn (Kim) Olson of Andover, Minn.; a son, Terry (Sue) of Cannon Falls; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, a grandson and two brothers.
