LYLE -- A memorial service for Lyle H. Olson was Monday at Ascension Lutheran Church in Marion, Iowa, with the Rev. Linda Livingston officiating. The body was cremated. Interment was in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Mr. Olson, 58, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Lyle, died of melanoma on March 7, 2002, at his home.
He was born March 22, 1943, in Albert Lea and graduated from Lyle High School and Austin Junior College. He served in the Army. On Sept. 10, 1966, he married Marilyn Meier in Austin. Mr. Olson was a staff pharmacist at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids for 30 years. He was a member of Cedar Valley Mountain Dulcimer Society, Linn County Pharmacy Association and Ascension Lutheran Church, its choir and Ascension Keenagers. He enjoyed computers, genealogy and traveling.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Brenda (Scott) Whitney of Clive, Iowa; one grandchild; two sisters, Gloria (Gary) Deick of Alexandria, Minn., and Verna (Robert) Holtan of Hayfield; and a brother, Donald (Glori Ann) of Champlin, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
Cedar Memorial Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids was in charge of arrangements.
