M. Doris Ness -- Austin
AUSTIN -- The funeral for M. Doris Ness will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Roberta Flood officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery in Austin.
Mrs. Ness, 81, of Austin, died Thursday (July 3, 2003) at St. Mark's Lutheran Home in Austin.
Doris Redwing was born June 1, 1922, in Austin. She graduated from Austin High School in 1940 and married LeRoy Ness on Aug. 23, 1945, at the St. Olaf parsonage. She worked for Hormel for about three years and as a waitress at the VFW for more than 30 years. She was a lifelong member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and a member of the VFW auxiliary since 1946. She enjoyed listening to Twins games on the radio, sewing, crocheting, traveling, fishing and playing cards.
Surviving are three sons, Larry (Nancy) of Manhattan, Kan., Ron of Anoka, Minn., and William (Laurie) of Verndale, Minn.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn Christopherson of Austin; and two brothers, Chester (Delores) Redwing of Portland, Ore., and Alvin (Jeri) Redwing of Austin. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son and two sisters.
Friends may call at Worlein Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and at the church one hour before the service Tuesday.
