ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) — Some St. Cloud State University students are wearing empty holsters to class this week as part of a nationwide protest of gun restrictions on campus.

The students are advocating conceal and carry laws on campus. Organizer and student Bill Jacobson says the students would like to do away with gun regulations on campus.

The students are wearing T-shirts promoting their cause and the holsters to draw attention to their stance.

Opponents say allowing guns on campus would not be safe.

The St. Cloud students are not alone. More than 25,000 students are estimated to be participating in similar demonstrations on college campuses across the country.
