COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. (AP) — Enrollment at the School of Theology and Seminary at St. John’s University is on the rise.

The school has 147 students this year, which is the most since 2005.

Admission Director Brendon Duffy says the school is seeing a lot of interest in the ministry by younger students.

Duffy says one reason for the increase this fall could be the souring economy. He says tough economic times can lead people to change their life path.

St. John’s officials say many students want to go into the lay ministry with careers like a hospital chaplain or campus ministry leader.
