Ironworld exhibit looks into Dylan’s range roots

CHISHOLM, Minn. (AP) — Saturday is Bob Dylan’s 67th birthday, and what better way to celebrate than a new exhibit that explores his local connections.

"Tangled up in Ore" opened Thursday at Ironworld in Chisholm. The exhibit uses Dylan’s own words to explain his relationship — or lack of one — to his hometown of Hibbing.

It also includes some Dylan-oriented memorabilia, including a high-chair used by baby Bobby Zimmerman to a bedroom window from his family’s Hibbing home.

There’s also a replica of the Hibbing High School stage where the normally mild-mannered Zimmerman delivered a wild, Jerry Lee Lewis-inspired performance at a school talent show in 1957. That performance has become a local legend, with some recalling that the crowd went wild, others say they booed loudly, and some say the high school principal tried to drop the curtain before the performance ended.
