MINNEAPOLIS — The Hiawatha light-rail line in Minneapolis is celebrating its fifth anniversary.

Transit and government officials will gather at the light rail station in front of the Hennepin County Government Center today to mark the anniversary.

Metro Transit says the Hiawatha line has offered nearly 43 million rides since it opened on June 26, 2004.

Trains run between downtown Minneapolis and the Mall of America in Bloomington, with stops at both airport terminals.
