ST. PAUL — Magie Darling had the highest individual finish for the Austin girls on Friday at the Hamline University Elite Meet.
Darling finished third in the 200 meters sprint event. She also had a seventh-place finish in the 100 meters.
Jessica Webber was battling some nagging injuries and didn’t finish among the top five in either of her events. Webber was ninth in the 300 high hurdles, and also had an eighth-place finish in the long jump.
Although she was a bit slower in the final than in the preliminaries, Darling took third in the 200 meters with a time of 26.41 seconds. She was seven-hundredths of a second faster in the finals of the 100 meters, and finished at 12.81.

"The 100 was really close," Austin coach Nancy Jones said. "The fifth-place time was 12.79, and Magie was really close to another top-five finish. Jessica was a little banged up and didn’t have a real good meet. She had a bad quadriceps (muscle) and her foot was sore from fall she took on Tuesday."
Webber ran a decent time in the preliminaries of the 300 hurdles at 48.28, but she was over three seconds slower in the finals.
Austin girls track and field competes in a Big Nine Conference triangular meet on Tuesday at Winona.
